Privacy
Between the Lines does not ask you to create an account, and it does not ask for your name or payment details. The only information you give it directly is what you choose to send by email, and your Instagram handle if you claim a seat in the Arena or post a Shootout score.
What is stored in your browser
The site saves two things in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice, and a copy of the latest lineup snapshot, which the team lineup cards use to mark players who moved lines since your last visit. Neither is sent to the server. Clearing your site data removes both.
Analytics
The site uses Vercel Analytics to count page views by route, such as the team page you opened. Vercel's own privacy policy covers how that service handles data.
Outside services the pages load
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, team logos and player headshots from the NHL's image servers, and the reporter list loads X's embedded widget. Those services receive the usual request details, such as your IP address, when the page asks for their files.
Arena seats
If you claim a seat on the Arena page (arena.betweenthelineshockey.com), the site stores your Instagram handle, the seat it gave you, when you claimed it, whether you chose to show a link to your Instagram, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address that is only used to limit claims to three a day per device. Your handle and seat are shown publicly on the Arena page; the Instagram link only appears if you ticked the box. The data is kept in a Supabase database. To have your seat removed, write to betweenthelineshockey@gmail.com.
If you post a Shootout score, the leaderboard stores your handle, your best round each week and when you posted it, plus the same hashed IP to limit posts to 20 a day per device. Your handle and score are shown publicly on the leaderboard. To have a score removed, write to betweenthelineshockey@gmail.com.
If you write to betweenthelineshockey@gmail.com, the message goes to the person who runs the site, and it is used to reply to you. See the contact page.
